    Jolene Tan is a Singaporean author and activist who was first known for her debut novel, A Certain Exposure (2014). 6 years after its release, Jolene is back with her first ever picture book, Saturday's Surprisingly Super-Duper Lesson, a story that narrates a seemingly normal Saturday morning for Aish, until her doodles start coming to life.     Doing the Write Thing: Robin Leong

    If you're a Singaporean who grew up in the 1990s, then you most probably would recognise Robin Leong as the famous actor who has starred in countless of local television shows, including cop drama, Triple Nine, and kung fu thriller, The Challenge.
    Now, he has carved a successful career as the founder of Ch'i Life Studio, which conducts martial arts classes for children and parents. His passion for teaching martial arts to the young ones naturally led him to start writing children's books.
    His debut book, The Kung Fu Force and the Tower of Doom, is his labour of love. Here, he shares his inspiration and hopes he has for his new book.

    Doing the Write Thing: Fiona Foo

    Fiona Foo is the founder of Hope Dog Rescue, a volunteer organisation that works towards fostering dogs and searching for their forever homes. Seeing how she's extremely passionate about saving as many strays and abandoned dogs that she can, it's hard to believe that Fiona used to suffer from a crippling fear of dogs.
    Four years ago, she met Button, and a bond immediately forms between the two. Seeing Button's potential, Fiona decided to train her to become a therapy pet, and the elderly Schnauzer was soon visiting Hokkien patients at Assisi Hospice, bringing company and joy to their lives.  In her book Button: The Hokkien Therapy Dog, she tells their story.

    Doing the Write Thing: Stephanie Street

    Stephanie Street is an actress and writer, born and raised in Singapore. She later moved to the UK, where she has been going from strength to strength. However,  back here in Singapore, Stephanie has been noted as the playwright who crafted one of the most sublime plays in recent years. Dragonflies captures the mood of the moment with its themes of dispossession, xenophobia and climate change.
    It focuses on Leslie, who is forced to leave the UK after Brexit and make his way back to Singapore. However, the Singapore he encounters is vastly different from the Singapore he left behind all those years ago; and he is made to question the meaning of what is home, truly.
    Here, Stephanie shares all about the wonderful world of Dragonflies.

    Doing the Write Thing: Gerry Alanguilan

    It was a sad day when we heard that award-winning Filipino comic book artist Gerry Alanguilan had passed away.
    Just a couple of weeks prior, we were communicating via email with Gerry about the Singapore edition of Elmer, the seminal graphic novel that put him on the global map. Incidentally, his book is also first in line for Epigram's new collection of graphic novels.
    While he stated that he would not be able to travel, he sent us a document sharing his thoughts about Elmer, adding: "I'm so glad I have this chance to share my story further there. To be honest, I can't wait to find out what Singaporeans think about it."
