Superworm to the Rescue

Weng Pixin grew up listening to stories by her father that reflected his curious nature. When Pixin began making art, she wanted to express that same curious nature in her work. She chose to become an artist and art teacher. She has taught comic workshops at LASALLE College of the Arts and the National Library Board. She has presented her works at the 2019 and 2020 Singapore Writers Festival as well as in artist residencies in Argentina (La Plata and Buenos Aires) and Riga, Latvia. She is the author and illustrator of Sweet Time and Let’s Not Talk Anymore, published by Montreal’s Drawn & Quarterly.

Missing Sock and Making a Comic - Easy Mode
Guide your child to imagine and express a character's feelings. Ask them how the character, like a cat, feels when it loses something. Explore how to show those emotions through drawing and writing. For example, tiny, shy words can show timidness, while big, bold words can express excitement or anger. This helps kids connect feelings with creative expression.

Super Loved Ones or Super You
This activity helps children recognise their everyday strengths. Explain that "super" doesn't mean having fantastical powers like flying. Instead, it's about skills that help others, like memory or kindness. Adults can point out a child’s specific skills, such as knowing rainbow colors. Then, using the "Super Loved Ones" sheet, invite the child to identify and draw the strengths they see in the adults in their life.
