  • About the Illustrator
  • As Singapore continues to undergo intensive restructuring and makeovers, and heritage buildings of yesteryear make way for new and ever-modern architecture, Lee Xin Li tries his best to capture these cherished memories and immortalise them with his drawings. Inspired by Hergé, the creator of Tintin, Xin Li's illustrations have a unique style that blends Hergé’s playfulness with meaningful nostalgia for Singapore’s iconic past. From the short-lived tramway system in the early 1900s to the historic Adelphi Hotel, and from the old Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to the Tanglin Barracks that preceded the Dempsey Hill of today, these nostalgic locales and moments in time are lovingly depicted in beautiful and imaginative detail.

  • The artist behind the popular 'Kueh series, ' Lee Xin Li is a fourth-year Architecture student at the National University of Singapore and an avid illustrator in his spare time. His work has been featured in numerous local publications, including The Business Times, The New Paper, Channel News Asia, Lianhe Zaobao and Shin Min Daily. He enjoys drawing, photography and travelling, among other things, and writes about his experiences (particularly about food) on his blog.
