  • About the Author & Illustrator
  • Riley loves to dance.

But at school, she watches children run faster, paint beautiful pictures, and play beautiful music. Soon, she begins to wonder…

    What makes me special?

As Riley searches for the answer, she discovers something that changes not only the way she sees herself, but the way she sees everyone around her.

The Courage to Be You is a heartwarming story about courage, kindness, friendship, and discovering that our greatest worth isn't found in what we achieve, but in who we are.

A timeless reminder that while dreams are worth chasing and achievements are worth celebrating, who you are will always matter more than what you do—and that the bravest thing you can ever be is yourself.

  • For more than a decade, Ranie Pang has had the privilege of walking alongside children and their families as an early childhood educator, a journey that has shaped both her heart and her life’s work. With a background in Early Childhood Education and Psychology, she is passionate about helping children discover their worth, grow in character, and know they are deeply loved for who they are, not simply for what they can do.

She believes that love is one of the greatest gifts we can ever give another person, and that when a child feels truly seen, accepted, and encouraged, they begin to shine in ways no achievement ever could. The Courage to Be You is her first children’s picture book, inspired by the many children who have touched her heart and by her belief that every child is wonderfully unique.

Kristen Kiong is a freelance illustrator trying to find a balance between creative work and raising her three children. An avid picture book collector, she has illustrated 22 of her own in the last seven years. She loves creating warm, whimsical illustrations that invite readers to slow down and appreciate the simplest everyday moments.
