Khin Lay leaves Myanmar for a new life in Paris after years of being judged for her childlessness. As she begins to rebuild her future with Htet Aung, a gentle embassy officer, the past returns in an unexpected and unsettling way. Old bonds refuse to fade, and long-held beliefs about spirit, love and renewal press in on her new beginning. Caught between what she has left behind and what lies ahead, Khin Lay must navigate a tender, shifting path towards a new sense of belonging.
“This novel began with the sense that in the quiet corners of memory and the shadows of heartbreak, we discover the fragile strength of the human heart. Even when love feels lost, life offers new beginnings: moments to heal, to forgive and to embrace the possibility of joy once more.”
