The survivors of Operation Spectrum—which saw the detention of several people who were allegedly part of a Marxist conspiracy—speak up about what really happened to them.
For many of those detainees, this book marks the first time that they have been able to cast their minds back to 1987 and try to make sense of the incident. They, as do their families and friends, firmly believe that what they did was meaningful and totally legitimate.
The detainees were subjected to ill-treatment, humiliation, and were manipulated when making television appearances. Under duress and threatened with indefinite imprisonment without trial, they had to make statutory declarations against their will.
This book aims to shed light on what actually happened, and asks if there was a national security threat that necessitated the mounting of Operation Spectrum.
