This book is inspired by the German children’s literature master Heinrich Hoffmann’s Der Struwwelpeter (“Shock-headed Peter”). In the process of parenting, conflicts often arise during routine development as a consequence of young children’s resistance to certain parental expectations. The author adopts the phrase “I don’t want to”, a mantra children often use to react against their parents, for the title. With a dramatic imagination and great sense of humour, the author depicts various common scenarios where young children exhibit disobedient behaviours, accentuating the consequences. This book ends with the phrase “I want to” to highlight the behaviour changes of the child. It is suitable for parents and teachers when teaching children good habits and routine practices.
