These range from non-fiction works to bestselling titles for young adults, as well as award-winning titles, such as the 2018 Singapore Literature Prize winner State of Emergency by Jeremy Tiang; the 2018 Singapore Book Award winner The Gatekeeper by Nuraliah Norasid; and Epigram Books Fiction Prize winners The Riot Act by Sebastian Sim and Now That It’s Over by O Thiam Chin.
The results were announced at the award ceremony and gala dinner held earlier this evening at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
Jo-Ann takes home a $25,000 cash prize. Her winning manuscript will be published in 2019.
The Epigram Books Fiction Prize is growing to be Singapore’s most coveted book prize, with a prize pot of $40,000 to support four novelists in bringing their writing to the masses. We created the Prize in 2015 to nurture Singaporean authors, with the confidence that they may earn that honour for themselves, and for Singaporean Literature.
Eight writers have been longlisted for the 2018 Epigram Books Fiction Prize (EBFP).

Epigram and Huggs Coffee are pleased to announce the opening of their first collaboration, the Huggs-Epigram Coffee Bookshop.
The concept store is located at 45 Maxwell Road, #01-01, and occupies a space of more than 980 square feet on the ground floor. It will be open from Mondays to Saturdays.
“Our tagline for the store is ‘Hold Singapore in Your Hands’,” says Edmund Wee, founder of Epigram, adding that members of the public are encouraged to come pick up a local book along with a cup of local-style coffee.
“We also want to tell our visitors from overseas that the best souvenir they can bring home is a Singapore book,” he added.
Epigram is pleased to announce the release of its first books for 2019.
These are the novel Love, Lies and Indomee by Nuril Basri, a rising star in Indonesia's literary scene; and a new mini-book series called Rational Conversations.
Authors Bernice Chauly and Suffian Hakim will be the first Epigram authors to feature at the 2019 edition of the Cairo Literature Festival.
The festival, which was started in 2015, will run from 16 to 21 Feb 2019, and will include readings of literary texts, discussion panels, and will tackle issues of writing and translation.
