WHEELS STILL TURNING (Musings of a Senior Citizen) is a delightful read; its reach is wide and, occasionally, also deep. K P Menon invites us to join him in thinking about a broad range of themes, topics, behaviours and often this invitation is decked in a multi-coloured lens so that as the hues subtly change, so do our feelings, thoughts and identifications. For identify we do as Menon teases us through a journey lined with rats, food, MRT, tuition, dogs, roads, bridges... the interesting miscellany that his pen has put together both brings a smile as well as a sheepish grin and perhaps even a hidden guilt. As we read his offerings (because these are essentially gifts he is giving us) we realise that so much of him is also so much of us.
