Singapore Colonial Style - Interiors of Black and White

This book invites one into remarkable private and commercial interiors, often rarely seen. It richly describes their design and individual charm and the influence of Anglo-Indian and Malay architecture on the colonial Singapore genre and how the tropics determined their style to create Tropical Tudobethian.

The authors present a brief history of the architecture and interiors of many splendid buildings built in Singapore between 1900 and 1950. These include homes, shophouses, clubs and hotels that have helped define the elegance and splendour of the colonial Singapore style that has become ubiquitously acclaimed and appreciated.

The black and white houses are owned and managed by the Singaporean Government and leased to tenants who have created their own unique, specific style and design on these properties.
