Dear Diary, 

I never thought I'd say this—I'm going camping, OUTDOORS, on Pulau Ubin overnight. It's not like I had a choice, because it counts towards our grades. Luckily, Pink, my BFF, will be there with me.

All I have to do is survive one night, right? After all, what could go wrong in the JUNGLE? 

The best thing about going to Pulau Ubin is the chance to get away from little brother Alex and his spider. But Rosie soon comes face to face with monitor lizards, bats and a haunted house. Ahhh! Not only that, she gets lost! Thank goodness her best friends Pink and Ben are with her, and together they try to find their way to the camp site. One thing's for sure—life in Singapore is exciting!

Dear Diary, 

I’m surviving middle school and living in Singapore! Mom is still cooking up a storm, making delicious local food; Alex is still annoying, as usual; Dad is still busy making sure that we are all happy.

I’ve decided to join the water polo class as my extra-curricular activity. That’s going to be real fun. Now all I have to do is grab my googles and swim gear and go.

The next few months will be BLISSFUL, right?

Tired of all the trouble Sharon has caused since Rosie arrived in Singapore, Rosie is determined to stay as far as possible away from her rival. So she signs up for water polo (yes, seriously, water polo). But Ben accidentally signs Rosie up for student council, and she finds herself running for president—against Sharon! Can middle school get any worse?

Author Sheri Tan worked as a children’s book editor in New York City for many years. She is also the author of a wide range of titles, including Seiji Ozawa (a biography of the former Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor) and Handshake in Space (The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project), as well as books featuring licensed characters such as Winnie the Pooh, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.

Illustrator Fernando Hierro is an illustrator and graphic designer who has worked in advertising, comic books and theatre. Born and raised in New York City, he is currently based in Singapore and is enjoying many local dishes, including chicken rice.
